Dr. Bing Guthrie
Dr. Bing Guthrie is currently working with the Stanton Territorial Health Authority providing specialist services to the women of the Northwest Territories where half his practice population is Aboriginal. He is Chinese by ethnicity, born in Hong Kong and raised in New Zealand where he completed his Medical degree. He moved to Canada with his family in 1992 first to Bella Bella and now practicing in the Northwest Territories first as a general practitioner then as an OB/GYN. His current work with Aboriginal and First Nations people makes him intimately aware of their health issues, their cultural identities and needs. He is also concerned about repatriating birth closer to home communities for all communities.
