Ms. Chelsey Rose Topping

Chelsey Rose Topping is a member of the Métis Nation of Alberta and resides in Calgary, Alberta. She is a resident in the Obstetrics and Gynecology training program at the University of Calgary. She completed her Bachelor of Science, First Class Honors in Biochemistry at the University of Alberta in 2004.  Chelsey has been fortunate to be the recipient the National Aboriginal Achievement Foundation Health Care Careers bursary, Belcourt Brosseau Métis Award, Alberta Aboriginal Health Careers bursary and Métis Nation of Alberta Health Initiative bursary. She is 2006 recipient of the Darcy Tailfeathers Memorial Award in Medicine and 2009 recipient of the Tom Wegmann Memorial Award. During her medical school career, she was involved in many activities, including being a mentor at the Aboriginal Health Care Careers Summer Sciences Camp, Mentoring Aboriginal Peers program, the Aboriginal Health Group and an active member of the Indigenous Physicians Association of Canada. During third and fourth year medical school Chelsey acted as a student representative on the Aboriginal Health Care Careers Committee.
