Ms. Lucy Barney

Ms. Lucy Barney is from the Statlimx Territory of the Lillooet Nation, BScN, University of Victoria and MSN from SON, University of British Columbia. Ms. Barney's passion is Aboriginal health. She was presented with the AccolAIDS Award for innovative education on HIV/AIDs and STIs with the Aboriginal population and the community service award from Langara College for working in Aboriginal health. Ms. Barney is considered one of the 150 nurses to know in BC. Her main interest is in health promotion that incorporates cultural practice, beliefs and values. She is a traditional woman dancer and travels to most First Nations gatherings in BC and the United States. She sits on the Nursing Research Advisory Committee 2009 – 2011.Ms. Barney is the Vice President for the Native and Inuit Nurses Association of BC 2009 – 2010.
